New option for Parsum IPP 70

Option for PAT applications
UK.
Malvern Instruments’ new Pharma option 3: Parsum View user interface for the Parsum IPP 70 in-line particle size measurement probe, is designed to simplify the system's use as a PAT (Process Analytical Technology) tool for continuous monitoring of granulation, spray drying and fluidised bed operations.
Designed specifically to fulfil GMP requirements for pharmaceutical production, it can be supplied alone or in combination with Pharma option 1 - verification kit for checking measurement accuracy, and option 2 - material traceability, a unit with highly polished contact surfaces supplied with material traceability documentation.
Together with its various options, Parsum View aims to simplify regulatory compliance, streamline adoption and ongoing use of IPP 70 within the pharmaceutical sector. It works either in a network (Ethernet) or on a standalone basis to provide the data security and complete audit trail necessary to meet the industry's need for exemplary record keeping.
Able to measure 20,000 particles per second, the IPP70 is light, compact and easy to install in either a process line or a vessel and suitable for monitoring gravity fed, pneumatically conveyed and fluidised streams with particles in the 50 - 6000 micron size range travelling at velocities up to 50 m per sec. Intrinsically safe and extra long versions of the instrument are available to extend the range of applications.

Agency agreement in India
India.
GEA Pharma Systems, the pharmaceutical processing specialist, has just signed an agency agreement with ACE Technologies of Mumbai to sell its range of GEA Courtoy tablet presses throughout India. This adds an important sales channel and is expected to have a significant effect on the company's market growth in the region.
ACE Technologies, a leader in supplying and distributing processing technology in India for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry, has a wide customer network and extensive service capabilities which will aid GEA’s expansion in this rapidly growing market.
Navin Lakhanpaul, Regional Manager for GEA Pharma Systems in India said: "The new agreement will provide an excellent service network enabling us to react more quickly to our customers requirements for high quality service and supply of market leading tableting technology."
The agreement covers supply and servicing of MODUL and PERFORMA tablet presses from GEA Courtoy in Belgium, both market leading technologies. MODUL tablet presses feature Exchangeable Compression Modules (ECM) for rapid, multiple product changeover tableting lines and applications that require a high level of product containment. PERFORMA is targeted at tableting facilities that require long runs and few product change-overs. The agreement allows ACE to distribute and support the full range of these key products.
GEA's sales in India were previously handled through their regional office in Vadodara, Gujarat. However, a national network was required to service this growing market. Frans K A Maas, Division Director Sales and Marketing said: "We have seen the phenomenal success that ACE Technologies has had as a distributor of processing equipment in India and are confident that their customer network, service set up and engineering capabilities will be a tremendous asset to us."
Currently a large proportion of GEA equipment is manufactured in Europe, but facilities in Vadodara are being extended to provide a full manufacturing capability. The factory will be completed in March 2009 and will provide locally produced products of European quality.
